About this product

Since the House of Pampero was created in 1938, it has become a Venezuelan icon that set the standard all others have to follow. Pampero literally defined the meaning of rum in Venezuela. Up until 1953, like most Caribbean countries to this day, you could distil raw spirit in Venezuela and sell it the next day as “Rum”. Our founders never believed that was good enough and aged their rums for a minimum of 2 years to improve the flavour and quality. Eventually the Government agreed. To this day, every rum in Venezuela has to reach the standard that Pampero set. Pampero Especial is the very heart of Pampero. It is such a recognisable drink that locals don’t ask for it by name but simply a “Caballito Frenado”, literally asking for a “rearing horse” – a homage to our iconic Llanero (Venezuelan Cowboy) and a symbol of freedom. Pampero Especial is crafted in a pioneering way to create one of our most versatile rums. We use a gloriously light spirit aged exclusively in Ex-Bourbon barrels, producing a smooth premium rum with notes of wood, vanilla and sweet fruits. These flavours shine through any mixer and the golden colour reflects the rich tastes within.

About the brand

The House of Pampero was proudly born in Caracas, way back in 1938. We’re more than 80 years old, but don’t feel a bit of it. Because our rum reflects the unstoppable bravado, adventure and thirst for life of our two founders Toro and Hernandez - and in turn, the vibrant spirit of the Venezuelan people. Our pioneering founders defined the meaning of rum in Venezuela. Up until 1953, like most Caribbean countries to this day, you could distil raw spirit in Venezuela and sell it the next day as “Rum”. Our founders never believed that was good enough and aged their rums for a minimum of 2 years to improve quality, aromas and flavours. Eventually the government agreed and it has become the quality standard of Venezuelan rum ever since.
